  • 12 lasagna noodles no-boil variety
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey for a lighter version
  • 1 jar marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat the oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2: Brown the meat

  • In a large skillet, heat over medium heat.
  • Add 1 lb of ground beef (or turkey).
  • Cook until the meat is fully browned, breaking it up into small pieces with a spatula.
  • Once the meat is cooked through, drain any excess fat from the skillet.

Step 3: Add the sauce and seasonings

  • Add 1 jar of marinara sauce (about 24 oz) to the meat in the skillet.
  • Stir in 1 tsp of dried oregano, 1 tsp of dried basil, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Allow the sauce to simmer for 5-10 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.

Step 4: Prepare the cheese mixture

  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the following:
    • 1 cup of ricotta cheese
    • 1 egg
    • 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese (half of the mozzarella)
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Stir until everything is combined evenly. Set aside.

Step 5: Assemble the lasagna

  • Take a 9x13 inch baking dish and spread a small layer of the meat sauce on the bottom.
  • Place 4 no-boil lasagna noodles on top of the sauce, making sure they don’t overlap.
  • Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles.
  • Add a layer of meat sauce on top of the ricotta mixture.
  • Repeat the process: Add another layer of noodles, the remaining ricotta cheese mixture, and top with more meat sauce.
  • End with a final layer of noodles and top with the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.

Step 6: Bake the lasagna

  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  • After 25 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to allow the cheese to brown and bubble on top.

Step 7: Rest the lasagna

  • Once done, remove the lasagna from the oven.
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes to allow it to set and be easier to slice.

Step 8: Serve and enjoy!
